Objectives
The Rigging Loft Controller course trains personnel to manage, inspect, and maintain lifting equipment in compliance with safety regulations like LOLER and PUWER.
Essential Components
Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a competent person carrying out rigging loft controller duties.
Be able to conform to manufacturer requirements as per technical data and conform to relevant regulations and legislation.
Be able to locate, identify and explain different types of lifting equipment, accessories, and attachments. Examine their basic construction, explain their uses, applications, and functions.
Be able to interpret and extract information from all relevant documentation.
Explain and demonstrate a comprehensive thorough inspection of lifting equipment and accessories.
Explain the importance and the contents of the rigging loft control register.
Explain and demonstrate how the equipment / accessories are issued and “T” card tracking system.
Identify and demonstrate how to complete a Thorough Examination Inspection Report.
Explain and identify the non-conforming items, demonstrate the procedures for segregating scrapped items and the procedure for recording scrapped items.
Explain and demonstrate a program of planned maintenance and the change out procedure.
Explain in detail the minimum rigging loft facilities that should be in place and carry out securing and storage procedures.
Target Population
Personnel responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and inspection of lifting equipment in industrial settings. Material controllers and storekeepers, safety and supervisory staffs, and personnel in charge of the daily management, quarantine, and disposal of lifting equipment.
