The primary aim of overhead crane operator training is to equip participants with the knowledge, practical skills, and safety consciousness required to operate overhead cranes efficiently while minimizing risks and preventing accidents. The training ensures operators understand crane mechanics, load handling, inspection procedures, and, crucially, how to adhere to safety protocols for safe and effective operation.
Objectives
The objective of this training course for delegates is to make the candidates competent enough to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform their job as an overhead crane operator.
Essential Components
Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a crane operator.
Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the machine to be used.
Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
Setup exclusion zone
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for mobile crane use.
Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements.
Prepare the mobile crane for use and operate machine safely and efficiently.
Environmental considerations.
Carry out all end of work and shutdown procedures.

Existing or new overhead crane operators, individuals looking forward to becoming an NPORS certified.
